Chrome Extension

StayAwake

Keep your computer awake, on your terms.

  • Chrome
  • Edge

StayAwake stops your system going to sleep with a single click. No configuration, no account, and no background service phoning home. Flip it on for as long as you need, or set a timer and forget it.

What it does

  • Toggle mode

Flip the switch to keep your system awake indefinitely. Flip it back to release. The toolbar icon shows the state, so you never have to open the popup to check.

  • Quick timers

30 minutes, 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours. One tap and the countdown runs live, then hands sleep back to you automatically — no timer left running overnight.

  • Display control

Choose whether the screen stays on too, or only the system stays awake while the display sleeps. Useful for a long download you would rather not light the room for.

  • Live counter and totals

See how long the current session has held the system awake, and the accumulated total across all sessions.

Privacy

  • Makes no network requests at all — not one, to anywhere
  • Declares no host permissions, so it cannot read any web page
  • Stores six small values locally; nothing ever leaves your device
  • No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no trackers

The full detail — every stored value and every address contacted — is in the StayAwake privacy policy.

Permissions, and why

power
The API that actually prevents the system sleeping. This is what the extension exists to do.
storage
Remembers whether it is on, your timer, and your display choice, on this device only.
alarms
Checks whether a countdown has expired while the popup is closed.
offscreen
Keeps the background worker alive with a silent audio buffer, so the lock is never dropped unexpectedly.

That is the complete list.
