TargetSize — Disclaimer
Last updated: August 13, 2026
TargetSize is a browser extension published by DhuRee Labs Inc. (dhureelabs.com). This page is version 1.0 of its disclaimer.
What this software does, and what it does not decide
TargetSize changes the size, dimensions and format of a file. That is the whole of it. It resizes, crops, compresses and re-encodes, and it reports the measured result.
It does not know, and cannot check, whether the file it produces will be accepted by any particular website, government department, examination board, employer, embassy, printer or other recipient. Acceptance is decided by that organisation, against rules it sets and changes without notice.
Size presets are pixel dimensions, not compliance
The presets named after documents — passport, visa, ID and print sizes — set pixel dimensions and an aspect ratio. They are provided for convenience.
They do not make a photograph compliant. An accepted identity photograph usually also has to satisfy requirements this software neither measures nor enforces, including but not limited to:
- head height and eye position within the frame
- background colour, evenness and shadow
- facial expression, eyes open, mouth closed
- glasses, head coverings, uniforms and jewellery
- lighting, sharpness, colour balance and absence of red-eye
- how recently the photograph was taken
- paper, print quality and finish where a physical print is required
- file format, minimum and maximum file size, and colour profile
- rules specific to one country, one office or one application route
Dimensions and file size are the only things TargetSize controls, and meeting them is not the same as meeting the requirement. Preset names describe the frame a given authority commonly asks for at the time of writing. Those figures change, differ between countries, and differ between application routes within the same country.
It is your responsibility to check the current, official requirements published by the authority you are applying to, and to check the file this software produces against them, before you submit it. If your application depends on it, use an official service or a professional photographer.
No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TargetSize is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
DhuRee Labs Inc. does not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any particular target size is achievable for any particular file, or that output will be accepted by any recipient.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DhuRee Labs Inc. and its officers, employees and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary loss or damage, or for any loss of data, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, wasted expenditure, rejected or delayed applications, missed deadlines, or costs of re-doing work, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, this software — whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for this software, which is nothing.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or the limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you. You may have statutory rights, including consumer rights, that this disclaimer does not affect.
Your files are your responsibility
TargetSize processes files entirely on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, and DhuRee Labs Inc. never receives, stores or sees your files. A consequence follows that is easy to miss:
- We hold no copy. If you lose the result, we cannot recover it.
- Keep your originals. The software never modifies or deletes the file you opened, and downloads a new copy instead — but you should keep your own backups regardless.
- Check the output before you rely on it. Open the downloaded file and look at it.
You are responsible for having the right to process the files you open, and for complying with the law that applies to you when you do.
Reporting a problem
If something is wrong — a wrong size, a corrupted output, a preset that no longer matches an authority’s published requirement, or anything that behaves differently from what the interface said it would — please report it to admin@dhureelabs.com.
Useful things to include: what you were trying to do, the file type and approximate size, the settings you used, what you expected, and what happened instead. Please do not attach the file itself unless you are content for us to have it; a description is usually enough, and we would rather not hold your documents.
Reports are read and are the main way this software gets corrected. We cannot commit to a response time, and reporting an issue does not create an obligation on us to fix it or a liability for it.
Third-party components
TargetSize includes open-source components under permissive licences (pdf.js — Apache-2.0; pdf-lib — MIT; fflate — MIT). Their licence texts ship with the software. Those components are provided by their authors without warranty, and this disclaimer does not extend any warranty over them.
Changes
This disclaimer may change when the software changes. The date above is updated when it does, and the current text is always the one shown in the extension’s Help dialog.
